8 Weird Downsides To Working in a Cubicle

We all have our pet peeves about the modern cubicle office environment, don’t we?

Sometimes we might even feel like cattle confined to our cubicles, but it’s a long way from the meat packing plant conditions Upton Sinclair wrote about in “The Jungle.” Well, usually.

So, let’s just take a minute or two and have a few chuckles about the vicissitudes of life within the confines of 3.5 cloth covered walls, and then move on.

As you scan our 8 drawbacks to life inside of the typical office cubicle, we’re sure that a few will strike a special nerve with you and you’ll probably have a few items you’d like to add to our list.

You might note, for example, that not only do prison cells have beds, they also come with toilets and sinks. And, anyone who’s ever had to clean the lunch room sink will recognize this fact as yet another advantage the prison cell has over the standard office setup.

Yet, most of us still prefer our cubicles. After all, office workers are generally allowed more latitude in how they decorate their personal space when compared to the average prison inmate, or so we’re told.

And as always, the key to success for anyone working within the confines of a cubicle can be summed up in one word: attitude. Bring a positive attitude and it will flow over your cubicle walls into the neighboring cubicles and before you know it, you’ll be surrounded by good vibes.
